1 Should I have a firewall
We recommend that anyone who connects to the internet should not only have a firewall but should have upto date anti-virus software. We also recommend using adware software to block pop-ups.
2 I saved a file but now I can't find it
It should be possible to use the find function within windows to locate the file. If you remember the filename that you used or if you know some of the content of the document then the search facility should manage it. If you are still having difficulty there are certain instances where you can look through past history to see where the file was saved.
One reason many files get lost is because the original was sent by e-mail and then instead of choosing a different location for the file to where it is opened. Windows will open the file in an OLK directory which can be hard to find. Especially if hidden directories have not been displayed.
3 How can I backup my e-mails?
If you are using Microsoft Outlook, you will find that all your e-mails are held in a pst file. It is possible to save those e-mails using the "Import and Export" option on the File Menu. The e-mails can be exported to a backup file.
4. 2GB limit reached on Outlook pst file.
This can be quite a problem and we would recommend you export the data to a backup pst file before you then start deleting e-mails. Remember you will need to empty the deleted items folder otherwise you will not release the space. |
